
Dr. Sarah Lang serves as the Director of Academic Support at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine’s (UIWSOM). She earned her Ph.D. in Science Education from The University of Texas at Austin in 2008, where her dissertation research focused student retention and departure from the biology major.
Prior to joining UIWSOM in 2019, Dr. Lang served as the Director of Curricular Operations at Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM). She was an integral part of the curriculum renewal process that began almost a decade earlier while appointed as the STEM Education Specialist and Instructional Designer at the Center for Teaching and Learning at Indiana University Indianapolis and later the Foundational Sciences Curriculum Specialist at IUSM.
Dr. Lang began her career in higher education while pursuing graduate education at The University of Texas at Austin. After several years as a Supplemental Instruction (SI) leader then SI supervisor for biology, she served as a Learning Specialist at the Sanger Learning Center. Since that time her focus - whether as a teacher, researcher, faculty developer, curriculum specialist, or learning assistance professional – has been to improve students’ educational experience while fostering their growth as lifelong learners.
