Clinical Outreach and Standardized Patient Manager Clinical and Applied Science Education Email: alcorte2@uiwtx.eduAlicia M. Cortez is originally from Clovis, New Mexico, and she moved to San Antonio in 1993. In November 2022, she joined the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM) after spending over 20 years in the healthcare industry. Alicia earned her Master's degree in Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Administration from UIW.
Alicia has extensive experience in both administrative and clinical roles within hospital and clinical settings. Prior to her position at UIWSOM, she worked for 11 years with Renal Associates, PA, one of the largest renal groups in San Antonio, where she served as a Certified Medical Assistant and Clinical Manager. Before that, Alicia gained experience working for Gerald Koppes, M.D., a heart specialist at San Antonio Heart, as well as in labor and delivery with the Seton network in Austin (now known as St. David's Hospital) and in the emergency department at Georgetown Hospital (also now St. David's Hospital).
During her time in the healthcare field, Alicia's primary goal was to deliver quality care to patients. She hopes to inspire the student doctors at UIWSOM to adopt this same mission and strive for excellence as they graduate and become physicians in the community.
