Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan
Mission
The mission of the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM) flows from the mission of the university and the founding call of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.
The University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine’s mission is to prepare medical students for successful careers as patient-centric physicians, committed to serving the communities of San Antonio and South Texas. Guided by program vision and values, our student-centered environment fosters the study and practice of the principles of osteopathic medicine, while cultivating a love of lifelong learning and a passion to serve. We work with community partners to ensure outstanding clinical, residency, and research opportunities. We are committed to cultivating a thriving and collaborative culture, responsive to the needs of San Antonio and South Texas, reflective of the faith and spirit of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word and grounded in reverence for the dignity of every human being.
