She is the Program Director for the TIGMER Laredo Family Medicine Residency Program, where she leads a community-based, unopposed training program serving the medically underserved population of Laredo, Texas.
A native of Laredo, Dr. Garcia earned her medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine and completed residency training at the Corpus Christi Family Medicine Residency Program. Following residency, she practiced as a hospitalist in Corpus Christi before returning home to join the TIGMER Laredo faculty in 2019. She was appointed Associate Program Director in 2020 and promoted to Program Director in 2022.
In addition to her certification in Family Medicine, Dr. Garcia is board-certified in Obesity Medicine and is a 2024 graduate of the National Institute for Program Director Development (NIPPD). Her clinical interests include women’s health and obstetrics, office-based procedures, obesity medicine and comprehensive primary care for underserved communities.
Dr. Garcia has been recognized for her dedication to medical education and workforce development. She was named Preceptor of the Year for the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine for 2022–2023, and received a formal recognition from the Laredo City Council for her ongoing contributions to the city’s medical workforce.
Beyond her professional commitments, Dr. Garcia is deeply committed to her community, mentoring the next generation of physicians and advocating for accessible, high-quality care. She is also a wife and proud mother of two boys and enjoys supporting local initiatives, spending time with family, and fostering a strong, connected, healthier Laredo.
