Kimberly R. Evans, MD
Associate Program Director, Psychiatry Residency Program Graduate Medical Education Email: krevans@uiwtx.eduDr. Kimberly Evans completed medical school at McGovern Medical School in Houston, TX before going to Texas Institute for Graduate Medical Education and Research (TIGMER) in San Antonio, TX for residency. While there, she tailored her experience to get additional training in reproductive psychiatry, seeing patients at Texas Vista Medical Center, one the few hospitals in the area that offered psychiatric inpatient care for women throughout pregnancy. She also completed additional rotations in Oklahoma City, OK to learn about brexanolone administration and in Columbia, MO to get experience working in a perinatal psychiatry clinic. She took this information back to San Antonio to start a co-located perinatal mental health clinic within the Maternal Fetal Medicine department at Christus Santa Rosa in collaboration with Crosstown Mental Health in January 2023. She continues working there, expanding access to pregnant and postpartum Texans in South and Central Texas. She currently sees people throughout pregnancy and up to one-year postpartum for continuity care, working closely with obstetricians and PCPs to improve medical outcomes for patients.
She wanted to help expand access in this population by continuing to train new psychiatrists in this field as well as give back to the program that gave her the opportunity to blaze her own path. She is one of the new Associate ProgramDirectors that joined the TIGMER psychiatry program in 2025. She is Director of Program Committees and Resident Well Being and acts as the leadership point of contact for PGY-2 residents.
