
Natalie Slater, MD, FAAP
Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs and Associate Professor of Pediatrics Clinical Affairs Email: nslater@uiwtx.eduDr. Natalie Slater is the Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM), where she has been a faculty member since 2019.
Dr. Slater is a native, central Texan and received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering with highest honors at the University of Texas at Austin. She then earned her Doctor of Medicine degree with Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society recognition at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Medicine prior to completing her pediatric residency training through Baylor College of Medicine at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. Subsequently, Dr. Slater joined the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics as faculty in Galveston, Texas, where she practiced in their outpatient primary and urgent care clinics and supervised residents and medical students.
While at UIWSOM, Dr. Slater has committed to teaching Pediatrics to medical students across the four years of the undergraduate medical training curriculum and has served various roles including co-lead of the Large Group Sessions component of the OMS-I and II curriculum, Pediatric Clerkship Director, and Director of the OMS-III and IV curriculum. Dr. Slater has also been instrumental in advancing interprofessional education and practice initiatives at the SOM.
Dr. Slater is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Texas Pediatric Society, and the Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics.
