
Ramaswamy N. Sharma, PhD, MS, HDSE
Professor of Pathology Clinical and Applied Science Education Email: rsharma@uiwtx.eduDr. Ramaswamy Sharma is a Professor at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM). He facilitates the learning of pathology, histology, and immunology for medical students and serves as the faculty sponsor for the pathology interest group and journal club. He is deeply involved in education scholarship, having developed novel 3-D printed anatomy models, as well as animated videos on cervical cancer, and secured funding as a principal investigator on multiple education-related as well as research-related grants. His dedication to education and innovation has earned him numerous accolades, including the 2019 Presidential Emerging Excellence in Teaching Award, STAR Educator Award, Excellence in Health Profession Education Award and recognition as a member of the Academy of Educational Scholars.
He serves on the DO and MBS program admissions committees, and has previously served as the Chair of the MS program, Director of the Pre-Professional postbaccalaureate program, and as the Director of NIH-funded PREP program.
He has published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals, books, and medical magazines, and serves as a member of the publications committee of the Bexar County Medical Society’s San Antonio Medicine. He is an editorial board member of Melatonin Research and is a reviewer for several scientific journals as well as granting agencies. A link to his publications can be found here.
