Alicia Paredes, M.Ed, M.Ed.A

Alicia Paredes joined the staff of the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM) in May 2023, after serving twenty-nine years at Northside Independent School District. Alicia earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of Texas at San Antonio, a Master of Education with a specialization in Instructional Technology from Houston Baptist University and a Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University.  She is as an experienced leader who brings her passion for student success and a drive for excellence to UIWSOM. Her educational/leadership philosophy goes by three mantras: 

1.  Be true to yourself and what you believe in.
2.  Never stop learning, reflecting and collaborating.
3.  Dream BIG, Work Hard, Fail Forward. 

Alicia has two daughters. Her oldest, Mia, attends UIW as a senior nursing student and her youngest, Ava, attends O’Connor High School as a senior and is on the drumline (big shout out to O'Connor - GO PANTHERS - and UIW - GO CARDINALS!).  Alicia's hobbies include enjoying the outdoors (hiking, canoeing, kayaking, etc), shopping, spending time with her family and her pets (five cats and two dogs) and volunteering as a band parent.
