Lori Kels

Lori Kels, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.P.A

Chair of Clinical Science Faculty, Associate Professor Clinical and Applied Science Education

Dr. Kels is a board-certified psychiatrist and an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at
UIWSOM. She serves as Chair of the Department of Clinical Sciences. She received her
BS in marketing from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She
earned her MD from the University of Nevada and her MPH from the University of
Southern California. Dr. Kels completed her residency in psychiatry at The George
Washington University, where she served as chief resident.
Dr. Kels has a clinical interest in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders in
women, particularly during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Her research
interests include mental health in medical education and novel treatments for mood
disorders.
She is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Texas Society
of Psychiatric Physicians, as well as the Bexar County Medical Society, where she
serves on the Board of Directors.
