Joseph Pulcini

Dr. Pulcini is an Assistant Professor of Pathology at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Pulcini earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Stony Brook University and his M.D. degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He completed his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and his fellowship in Cytopathology at Brooke Army Medical Center.

After a rotating internship, Dr. Pulcini spent several years practicing general medicine, operational medicine and diving medicine in Central America. Subsequently, he was appointed to the faculty at the US Army Physician Assistant Program. After his specialty and subspecialty training, Dr. Pulcini served as an attending physician at tertiary care centers dividing his time between clinical practice, administration, graduate medical education, and research activities with a focus on fatty liver disease. Appointments included Chief of the Clinical Pathology Service at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Chief of the Cytopathology and Anatomic Pathology Services at Brooke Army Medical Center, and Program Director of the Cytopathology Fellowship at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. After retiring from the US Army, Dr. Pulcini served as a regional medical director for Quest Diagnostics and subsequently spent ten years in private practice San Antonio and New Braunfels.

Dr. Pulcini brings a unique palette of experience encompassing clinical, administrative and academic medicine. He is passionate about teaching and is excited to be a part of the faculty at UIW-SOM.
