Linda Solis

Dr. Solis is an Assistant Professor of Applied Humanities and Assistant Director of the Masters of Biomedical Science (MBS) Program at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from McKendree College (now University) in Lebanon, Illinois. She lived and worked for several years in St. Louis, then gained a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from the University of Arizona in Tucson. She moved to San Antonio in 1997 and began a career as an education and training consultant, which afforded her the opportunity to travel extensively, both national and internationally. Eventually, she landed at UT Health San Antonio, creating continuing education programs for health care providers in many professions.

While at UT Health, Dr. Solis decided the time was right to pursue a Ph.D. She completed the doctoral program in Leadership Studies at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, focusing her research on how leaders communicate. Her dissertation centered on President Abraham Lincoln's leadership communication style as evidenced in his speeches and writings, using the modern lens of the full-range leadership model.

In 2012, Dr. Solis accepted a faculty development position at UT Health Long School of Medicine, then moved into the directorship of the Office for Student Diversity and Inclusion and Professional Development, allowing her to teach the concepts that are foundational to the transformation of learner to physician.

She joined the faculty of the UIW School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2017, where she will continue to teach and encourage learners on their path to becoming holistic, open-minded, culturally aware health care providers.

When not at work, Dr. Solis can be found on her sofa reading a good book or chatting with her family, often with a cat on her lap.
