John Seidenfeld

Associate Professor Clinical and Applied Science Education

Dr John Seidenfeld joined the faculty at UIW SOM in order to pursue his love of learning, be surrounded by an academic environment with an important mission and wonderful library, and continue to explore the teaching of medical science and art. He trained at the University of Cincinnati where he received his MD, the University of Iowa where he became an Internal Medicine Resident, Chief Resident, and Pulmonary Disease fellow, and received a MSHA degree from Trinity University. He has boards in IM and PUD, served in the US Army, and has taught medicine at the Universities of Arizona and Texas before years of private practice and administrative medicine.

His current academic and community interests are the Bexar County Publication committee, studying cannabinoids as well as gun safety, spiritual studies, Black Lives Matter, the ongoing war on the poor, and reading and writing fiction.

He has lived in San Antonio since 1983 and has a ranch in Blanco where he pursues his love of nature and Texas wildlife. He and his wife Mary Barad have four children, eight grandchildren, and a dog Milo who walks Dr Seidenfeld at least twice a day.
