The UIWSOM MPH curriculum prepares learners to address complex public health challenges through a comprehensive study of the core public health disciplines, including epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy and management, social and behavioral sciences, environmental health, and public health ethics. MPH Admission Requirements and Prerequisites
Applicants to the Master of Public Health program must complete a four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university before matriculating into the program. International applicants must provide equivalent degree verification.
Required Bachelor’s Degree
Applicants must hold a four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or the international equivalent, before beginning the program. Applicants are encouraged to have:
- Course experience in areas such as biology, chemistry, algebra and statistics, or professional experience using similar quantitative skills
- Volunteer or work experience in a public health-related field, or a clearly articulated interest in public health
Prerequisite College Courses
Prerequisite coursework must be completed at an accredited college or university with a grade of “C” or better. Applicants must achieve a minimum science and cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Required prerequisite courses include:
- Biology: at least 3 semester credit hours
- Mathematics: Algebra or Statistics, 6 semester credit hours

General Frequently Asked Questions
The MPH program accepts applications on a rolling basis per semester. To ensure sufficient time for application review and enrollment, applicants are encouraged to submit all required materials by the following dates:
- Fall 2026 Entry: July 17
- Spring 2027 Entry: December 7
- Summer 2027 Entry: May 3
Required application documents include:
- A personal statement and brief written responses
- A resume or CV
- Official transcripts
- TOEFL scores (if applicable)
- Two letters of recommendation (from faculty and/or a professional supervisor)

There are no specific majors required for admission into our MPH program.
Bachelor’s Degree
