How To Apply

The application cycle for the incoming class of 2024 opens Oct. 1, 2023. Standardized test scores are optional for admission.

Welcome and thank you for your interest in the UIWSOM Master of Biomedical Sciences. Application Process

To apply for the MBS program and receive full consideration, the following items must be submitted:

1. UIW Graduate Application

To begin the application process, complete a UIW Graduate Admissions Application.

Please indicate the Fall 2024 term as your anticipated start date.

First-time Users: Create an account to start a new application. If you have completed a UIW degree and are seeking a second degree, you must complete a new application as a first-time user.

Returning Users: Log in to continue your application.

2. Curriculum Vitae (CV)

The CV should include comprehensive details about personal work experiences, shadowing or clinical exposure, community service, awards, honors, publications, etc.

Electronic copies can be sent to gradadmissions@uiwtx.edu.

3. Official Transcript(s)

Applicants are required to send an official transcript from all institutions attended. This includes all undergraduate, graduate and any healthcare professions education. Applicants with outstanding prerequisites should send an updated official transcript after completion of coursework.

Paper transcripts must be mailed directly from the institution to UIW in a sealed envelope and printed within the last year. Please use the following address:

4. Letters of Recommendation

Three letters of recommendation are required. The letters should attest to the applicant's capacity for graduate-level coursework. At least one letter should be submitted by a faculty member and one from a healthcare provider. Letters should be submitted on the recommender’s letterhead.

The standardized test score requirement is now optional for the MBS program.  Although not required, applicants may send standardized test scores to the UIW Graduate Admissions Office following the instructions below.

Those intending to apply for the UIW School of Osteopathic Medicine DO program will be required to submit an official MCAT score. Admission to the MBS program does not guarantee admission to the DO program. 

Scores should be submitted as follows:

  • GRE - scores should be sent directly to the UIW Graduate Admissions Office using code 6303.
  • MCAT - scores can be printed and mailed to the UIW Graduate Admissions Office using the address below. Electronic score reports can be sent to gradadmissions@uiwtx.edu. Please ensure the score report includes the 16-digit verification code and the AAMC ID. Scores reports will be validated by UIW.
  • Other pre-professional exams - scores can be mailed directly to the UIW Graduate Admissions Office or sent electronically to gradadmissions@uiwtx.edu.
