Raul Marin, MD

Associate Professor

COL (Ret.) Raul Marin, MD was born and raised in Puerto Rico and after graduation from high school, he obtained his B.A. from Gettysburg College (Pennsylvania) in 1983 and then his MD from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 1987. He did his transitional internship in Brooke Army Medical Center (AMC) and his Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) residency at Walter Reed AMC (1993). In 1999 he completed his Medical Research Fellowship at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. His assignments have included: Aviation Medicine Battalion Surgeon (1988-1989), PM&R staff (Landstuhl, Germany 1993-1998), PM&R teaching staff (Walter Reed 1998-2008), Uniformed Services University for the Health Sciences Associate Professor of Neurology 2004-2008 & Assistant Professor of Medicine (1999-2008) and Assistant Chief of the Department of Clinical Investigations (Walter Reed 2001-2003).

In 2003 he deployed for one year with the 101st Airborne Division to Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon his return he assumed the responsibilities of teaching staff in the PM&R residency and as chair of the Walter Reed Institutional Review Board. He was also appointed Medical Director of the Walter Reed Gait Laboratory. After his retirement from active duty service, he became a civil servant as the PM&R physician at the Center for the Intrepid, the military’s premier rehabilitation center in San Antonio, Texas. Military awards include, among others, the Army Air Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (5 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Combat Medical Badge and the Order of Military Medicine Medal.
