Blaine A. Jacobs, PhD

Assistant Professor

Dr. Blaine Jacobs received her doctorate in Pharmacology from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Her graduate research included the study of opioid receptor function specific to peripheral analgesic mechanisms to identify new pharmacological targets for improved pain pharmacotherapy. Dr. Jacobs’ doctoral training was supported by the Craniofacial Oral-Biology Student Training in Academic Research Fellowship and the Council for Excellence in Women’s Health Scholarship. As a Postdoctoral Research Associate at The University of Texas at Dallas, Dr. Jacobs explored migraine pathology and collaborated with pharmaceutical companies to screen compounds in preclinical pain models.

Dr. Jacobs joined the faculty of the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM) as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology in June of 2018. She is honored to be a part of the UIWSOM faculty and grateful to be of service to the San Antonio community.
