Bernard Hildebrand, MD, FACP, FACR
Internal Medicine Program Director – San Antonio
Dr. Bernard Hildebrand is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Department of Clinical and Applied Science Education at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM). Born and raised in South Texas, Dr. Hildebrand graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science in Biology (2000) before receiving a Doctor of Medicine (2004) from UT-Houston Medical School. He completed Internal Medicine residency (2007) and Rheumatology fellowship (2009) training at Wilford Hall Medical Center and Brooke Army Medical Center, respectively. Dr. Hildebrand also earned a Master of Arts in Bioethics and Health Policy (2013) from Loyola University Chicago.
Dr. Hildebrand is a clinical Rheumatologist with CommuniCare Health Centers in downtown San Antonio and regularly participates in local and international medical ministry. In 2019, he was appointed to serve as the residency program director for TIGMER – San Antonio Internal Medicine. The residency launched in July 2021 and is accredited to train 45 residents each year as a collaborative venture of UIWSOM, WellMed Medical Group and University Health System.
